Six Pandas Transported in Diplomatic Exchange

FedEx transported six giant pandas between the U.S. and China, with four heading from Atlanta to Chengdu and two arriving in Washington, D.C. The new arrivals, Bao Li and Qing Bao, are set for a 10-year stay at the Smithsonian's National Zoo as part of a renewed panda diplomacy agreement. This marks the first arrival of new pandas in D.C. in 24 years, following the departure of the previous panda residents last November due to an expired lease. The pandas will be quarantined for a month before public viewing. The transportation is part of a broader effort to foster biodiversity and U.S.-China relations. The FedEx 'Panda Express' has been pivotal in these diplomatic missions since 2000.
