Florida Charges Trump Assassination Suspect with Murder, Terrorism

Ryan Routh, a man already facing federal charges for attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, is now facing additional state charges in Florida for attempted first-degree murder and terrorism. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced these charges, attributing delays in the federal investigation to the Biden administration's lack of cooperation. Uthmeier criticized the previous administration for hindering justice and expressed confidence in the current federal leadership under Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel. Routh allegedly plotted to kill Trump at a golf course in West Palm Beach in September, where he was arrested after a confrontation with Secret Service agents. Evidence suggests Routh sought military-grade weapons to carry out his plan, including a rocket launcher from a Ukrainian contact. The state charges are expected to be pursued in collaboration with federal authorities as both cases proceed.
