Senator Hawley Probes LA Immigrant Group Over Riot Funding Allegations

Hawley’s letter demands that CHIRLA cease any involvement in these activities and requests extensive financial and communication records, including donor lists and travel reimbursements, to uncover who is funding the unrest. CHIRLA, through Executive Director Angelica Salas, has denied the allegations, emphasizing their commitment to non-violent advocacy and asserting that they have only participated in peaceful events such as rallies and press conferences. Legal experts have noted that providing financial support for protests does not necessarily equate to aiding criminal conduct, highlighting concerns over free speech protections.
