Steve Bannon Begins Four-Month Prison Term

Steve Bannon, former Trump campaign adviser and White House strategist, has begun serving a four-month prison sentence for contempt of Congress after refusing to testify in the investigation into the January 6 Capitol riot. Bannon surrendered at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, following a lengthy legal battle that reached the Supreme Court, which denied his appeal. Outside the prison, Bannon defiantly called himself a 'political prisoner' and expressed pride in his incarceration as a stand against what he described as 'tyranny' and the 'corrupt DOJ.' His supporters, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, gathered to show solidarity, while some protesters chanted 'lock him up.' Bannon's imprisonment marks another high-profile conviction among Trump’s allies, with Trump himself facing upcoming sentencing related to a New York fraud conviction.
