Vice President Kamala Harris is launching a campaign initiative called 'Republicans for Harris' to attract Republican voters disillusioned with Donald Trump. The effort is backed by over two dozen Republicans, including former Congressmen Christopher Shays and Joe Walsh, and will focus on direct outreach from Republican supporters to their peers. The campaign will host events in key states such as Arizona, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, aiming to create a 'permission structure' for GOP voters to consider voting for Harris. National outreach director Austin Weatherford emphasized that Trump's extremism alienates many Republicans who no longer feel represented by him. The initiative also includes the formation of a task force in Arizona led by local Republicans, including Mesa Mayor John Giles, who have expressed their commitment to defeating Trump. This strategic outreach reflects a broader Democratic goal to win over key swing voters in a competitive election cycle.
