Illegal Truck Driver Arrested After Fatal Florida Turnpike Crash Kills Three

Harjinder Singh, a semi-truck driver living illegally in the U.S. since 2018, was arrested and charged with three counts of vehicular homicide following a fatal crash on the Florida Turnpike near Fort Pierce. Singh made an illegal U-turn in a designated 'official use only' area, causing a Chrysler minivan to collide with his truck, killing all three occupants of the minivan. The victims included a 54-year-old man from Miami, a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach, and a 30-year-old man from Florida City, with two pronounced dead at the scene and the driver dying later in the hospital. Singh obtained a Commercial Driver’s License in California despite his illegal status and is currently held on an ICE detainer, with plans for deportation after his state charges are resolved. Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles officials condemned Singh's reckless actions, emphasizing the devastating loss suffered by the victims' families. The crash closed all northbound lanes on the Turnpike for several hours during emergency response efforts.
