House Panel Subpoenas DOJ, Clintons, Top Officials
A House Oversight subcommittee voted 8-2 to subpoena the Department of Justice for files related to Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking investigation, as well as testimony from Bill and Hillary Clinton, former FBI Directors James Comey and Robert Mueller, and several former Attorneys General. The measure passed with bipartisan support, enabling Democrats to advance the subpoenas despite some Republican opposition. Amendments were adopted to protect the identities of Epstein's victims and require the release of all communications between President Biden or his officials and the DOJ regarding Epstein. The subpoenas, which still need Oversight Chairman James Comer's signature, reflect growing public and legislative pressure for transparency in the Epstein case. Lawmakers emphasized the importance of justice for victims and accountability for any high-profile individuals connected to Epstein. The action has heightened political tensions, with both parties accusing each other of obstruction as the investigation progresses.
