Amazon Strike Expands Amid Holiday Season Tensions

Amazon workers at seven delivery hubs have gone on strike just before Christmas, demanding better pay, benefits, and safer working conditions. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, representing approximately 10,000 Amazon workers, organized the strike due to Amazon's refusal to negotiate a union contract, as the company does not recognize contracted delivery drivers as employees. Strikes are occurring in Southern California, San Francisco, New York City, Atlanta, and Skokie, IL, with more workers prepared to join. Despite the strike being labeled the largest against Amazon in U.S. history, the company claims operations will not be affected and accuses the Teamsters of misleading the public. Meanwhile, solidarity actions are also occurring in places like Lakeland, Florida, where local Teamsters have shown support for the striking workers.
