Egypt Attempted to Fund Trump 2016 Campaign

A Washington Post investigation has revealed that just before Donald Trump assumed the presidency in January 2017, an organization linked to the Egyptian intelligence service withdrew nearly $10 million in cash from a Cairo bank, allegedly intended to support Trump's 2016 campaign. The U.S. Department of Justice initiated a secret investigation into this matter in 2019, suspecting that Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi sought to influence the election. However, Attorney General William Barr halted the probe, citing insufficient evidence, and the case has since expired due to the statute of limitations. Trump has denied any wrongdoing, attributing the accusations to 'Deep State Trump-haters.' This incident raises concerns about the vulnerability of the U.S. electoral system to foreign interference.
