Wisconsin Charges Trump Associates in Elector Scheme

Three associates of former President-elect Donald Trump, Jim Troupis, Michael Roman, and Kenneth Chesebro, have been charged with 11 felony counts each in Wisconsin for their involvement in a 'fake elector' scheme following the 2020 presidential election. The charges include forgery and conspiracy to commit a crime, as they allegedly orchestrated a plan to falsely report that Trump won Wisconsin, despite Joe Biden's victory. Troupis and his co-defendants argue the charges are politically motivated, with Troupis seeking dismissal of the charges, asserting that the plan was a precaution in case of a court ruling in Trump's favor. The Wisconsin Department of Justice has yet to charge the 10 Republican electors who signed the false certificates, focusing instead on the architects of the scheme. This development follows similar criminal proceedings against participants in other states involved in the scheme.
