The trial of former president Donald Trump, initially set for March 4 on charges of interfering in the 2020 election, has been indefinitely postponed. Trump filed an appeal claiming presidential immunity, with the case being frozen pending the outcome of the appeal. The case has been brought by the Department of Justice special counsel, Jack Smith. Trump is also scheduled to stand trial in New York on 25 March on charges of falsifying business records while in office. He currently faces four indictments and 91 felony counts and is favourite to win the Republican nomination in the upcoming presidential elections.
