Trump Attacks U.N., Denounces Climate Policy, Claims War Deals
At the U.N. General Assembly, President Trump sharply attacked the United Nations as bloated and ineffective, accusing it of enabling migration and warning leaders "your countries are going to hell." He claimed credit for having "ended seven unendable wars" in seven months, including an asserted role in an India–Pakistan ceasefire, a claim that foreign officials have disputed. Trump dismissed climate policy as 'the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world,' called the carbon-footprint concept a hoax and urged nations to abandon costly green-energy measures like wind and solar. He also accused U.N. migration programs of incentivizing illegal movement, criticized the organization for wasting U.S. taxpayer funds and said America will only support international bodies that deliver measurable results. Scientists, analysts and foreign observers pushed back, citing decades of climate research, record-high temperatures and factual errors in some of Trump’s assertions. Delivered at times without a working teleprompter and drawing audible groans, the speech reiterated themes of national sovereignty, tariffs to defend U.S. interests and a retreat from multilateral climate and migration policies.
