UK, Norway Fund £450M Drone Aid for Ukraine

The UK and Norway are set to announce a £450 million military aid package for Ukraine, which includes the delivery of 'hundreds of thousands' of military drones, radar systems, and anti-tank mines. UK Defense Secretary John Healey emphasized the package's importance during the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting in Brussels, highlighting the need to support Ukraine's ongoing struggle against Russian aggression. The funding will also cover repairs and maintenance for existing military equipment, aiming to bolster Ukraine's defenses as the situation remains critical. Healey noted that the UK has committed around £4.5 billion in military support to Ukraine this year, with this package being a crucial part of that commitment. The meeting, co-chaired by Healey and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, reflects a shift in leadership from the US to the UK within the coalition of nations supporting Ukraine. The initiative aims to prepare Ukraine for ongoing conflict while considering future peacekeeping efforts once a ceasefire is established.
