U.S. Commemorates 23rd 9/11 Anniversary with Tributes

Across the United States, communities commemorated the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks by honoring first responders and victims. In Fort Worth, second graders at Tanglewood Elementary paid tribute to first responders, including a special ceremony involving red bandanas in memory of Welles Crowther. In San Luis Obispo, a memorial included a bell ceremony and laying of white roses at a 9/11 memorial. Bay City held a scout salute on the USS Edson, which played a role in the aftermath of the attacks. H-E-B supported over 950 first responder stations across Texas through its Helping Heroes initiative. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Pirates recognized local first responders before their game against the Marlins. In Greene County, NY, a ceremony honored two first responders who died from illnesses related to their work at Ground Zero.
