However, Brown, along with other sources, refuted Trump's story, stating that he never rode in a helicopter with Trump nor made any disparaging remarks about Harris. Trump appears to have confused Willie Brown with Jerry Brown, the former governor of California, with whom he did share a helicopter ride in 2018 to inspect wildfire damage. Both Gavin Newsom and Jerry Brown confirmed that there was no emergency landing and no discussion about Harris during that flight. Willie Brown emphasized his longstanding support for Harris and dismissed Trump's account as fiction.
