Bangladesh Faces Growing Food Security Challenges

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Nigeria aims to reduce post-harvest losses in agriculture by 25% as part of a broader initiative to strengthen food security and domestic production through the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ). This initiative, supported by various international development banks, seeks to create jobs and enhance agricultural productivity. Meanwhile, in Bangladesh, severe weather events have threatened food security, damaging significant crop yields and leaving farmers in precarious situations. Notably, the country incurs about 16 million tons of food loss annually due to post-harvest issues, highlighting a critical area for improvement. Furthermore, nearly 95% of Australians fail to meet vegetable consumption recommendations, adversely impacting both public health and local farmers. Addressing these challenges requires a multifaceted approach, including sustainable agricultural practices and improved post-harvest management.
