Netanyahu Plans Full Military Control of Gaza
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Israel now intends to take full military control of the Gaza Strip to eliminate Hamas and ensure national security, though it does not plan to annex or permanently govern the territory. Instead, Israel aims to establish a security perimeter, separate civilians from Hamas, and eventually transfer administration to a transitional or Arab governing body not linked to Hamas. The Israeli security cabinet continues to discuss the possibility of a full occupation if Hamas refuses to negotiate or release hostages. Netanyahu has said the conflict could end quickly if Hamas surrenders and releases all captives. At the same time, Israel is working with international partners to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza and is strengthening defense and economic ties with countries such as India. Aid agencies and international observers caution that further military escalation could lead to severe humanitarian and diplomatic consequences.
