The Perseid meteor shower, described as one of the brightest and most popular meteor showers, is active from mid-July to early September, peaking on the night of August 11-12. During its peak, viewers in the Northern Hemisphere can expect to see up to 100 meteors per hour, with optimal viewing in pre-dawn hours and away from light pollution. The meteors originate from debris left by the comet Swift-Tuttle, and visibility across Texas is expected to be excellent. The shower coincides with the Buck Moon, which will peak on July 21. Other meteor showers, such as the Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids, are also visible in late July.
