Russia Uses AI for Election Disinformation

U.S. intelligence officials have reported that Russia is using AI to influence the 2024 presidential election to support Donald Trump and discredit Kamala Harris. Moscow has been identified as the most prolific creator of AI-generated disinformation, including fabricated videos and altered speeches, to spread pro-Trump and anti-Harris narratives. One notable example is a staged video falsely accusing Harris of a hit-and-run accident, which was widely disseminated through a fake news outlet. Other nations like China and Iran are also employing AI for influence operations, but Russia remains the most sophisticated and active player.
