Americans Urge Trump to Prioritize Prices Over Tariffs
A CBS News/YouGov survey reveals that most Americans believe President Donald Trump is overly focused on tariffs rather than reducing prices, with 64% stating he isn't doing enough to lower costs. The survey, conducted on a representative sample of 2,609 US adults, highlights that 55% of respondents think Trump places too much emphasis on tariffs, which they fear will increase prices in the short term (72%) and possibly long-term (47%). Despite these concerns, Trump's immigration policies, specifically his deportation program, still maintain majority approval at 58%. His overall approval ratings on the economy have slipped into negative territory, with 52% disapproving of his economic management. Additionally, the survey reflects that Americans remain skeptical about the financial benefits of Trump's policies, with only 23% believing they are better off compared to pre-office expectations. While Trump receives more blame for inflation than Joe Biden, a significant portion of the public still holds Biden more accountable.
