The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced $4.3 billion in grants to fund 25 projects across 30 states aimed at reducing climate pollution. Funded by the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, the grants target sectors including transportation, electric power, buildings, industry, agriculture, and waste management. Notable allocations include $396 million to Pennsylvania for reducing industrial emissions and nearly $500 million for decarbonizing transportation at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Maine will receive $72 million for heat pump adoption, and New England as a whole will get $450 million. The EPA expects these projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 971 million metric tons by 2050, equivalent to the emissions of five million homes. The initiative underscores the Biden administration's significant investment in combating climate change and promoting clean energy.
