Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Over Mail-In Ballots

Federal judges in both South Carolina and North Dakota have dismissed lawsuits challenging the acceptance of mail-in ballots after Election Day. The South Carolina case was brought by Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung and was found to be 'without merit.' In North Dakota, Burleigh County Auditor Mark Splonskowski filed a lawsuit in July and argued he 'faces an impossibility in enforcing the law' around whether to accept mail-in ballots received after Election Day, alleging federal and state law conflict. However, U.S. District Judge Daniel Traynor dismissed the lawsuit, saying Splonskowski lacked standing and did not allege a specific constitutional violation.
