Former DC Police Officer Sentenced 18 Months for Leaking to Proud Boys Leader

Shane Lamond, a former lieutenant with the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for obstructing justice and lying to federal investigators by leaking confidential information to Enrique Tarrio, the former leader of the Proud Boys extremist group. Despite Lamond and Tarrio both testifying that no confidential information was shared, Judge Amy Berman Jackson found their testimonies unconvincing, citing evidence such as messages between them. Tarrio, who was convicted for seditious conspiracy and sentenced to 22 years, was pardoned by President Donald Trump and attended Lamond’s sentencing alongside other right-wing figures like Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes. Prosecutors emphasized that Lamond’s actions betrayed his colleagues and obstructed justice, while Tarrio called for a presidential pardon for Lamond.
