Massachusetts ICE Arrests Surge Record High, Fuel Community Fear

Under President Donald Trump's administration in 2025, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has significantly intensified immigration enforcement, exemplified by a record-breaking 1,400 arrests in Massachusetts in May alone, signaling the start of an era of mass deportations. Trump’s proposed budget reconciliation legislation, known as the “Big Beautiful Bill,” aims to expand ICE’s reach nationwide by funding 10,000 additional agents and deputizing local police, with a $130 billion allocation for immigration enforcement, detention, and border security, including the border wall.
