Democrats Questioned on Epstein File Release Delay Under Biden
Democrats have recently escalated their demands for the release of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents, yet when pressed about why they did not push for transparency while controlling the White House and Department of Justice from 2021 to 2025, Democratic lawmakers like Rep. Jamie Raskin and Rep. Pramila Jayapal struggled to provide clear answers. On MSNBC's "Morning Joe," host Joe Scarborough directly questioned Raskin about this discrepancy, to which Raskin responded that the timing and prosecutorial decisions during that period would need to be examined, deflecting responsibility and highlighting that President Donald Trump has led calls for releasing the files despite being Epstein's close friend. Democrats, including Rep. Ro Khanna, recently tried to pass resolutions to compel Attorney General Pam Bondi to release the files, but these efforts were blocked by House Republicans. Raskin also claimed there is bipartisan consensus within the House Judiciary Committee to release all records, but acknowledged that the files have yet to be fully disclosed. The issue has created political tension as Democrats criticize the Trump Justice Department while facing scrutiny over their past inaction during their own tenure in power.
