House Speaker Johnson Calls for Ukrainian Ambassador's Removal

Johnson's letter, which coincided with Zelenskyy's address at the UN, criticized the visit as a partisan event that excluded Republican representatives, asserting it was designed to aid Democratic candidates in the upcoming elections. He expressed that this incident has eroded trust in Markarova's ability to serve effectively as a diplomat in the U.S. and called for her immediate removal. The House Oversight Committee has initiated an investigation into whether Zelenskyy's visit constituted election interference. Johnson emphasized that foreign nations should refrain from involving themselves in American domestic politics, especially in an election year. The Ukrainian government has yet to respond to these accusations.
