The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqil in an airstrike in Beirut, Lebanon. Aqil, head of Hezbollah's operations and the elite Radwan Force, was killed alongside other senior commanders. He had a $7 million U.S. bounty for his role in the 1983 bombing of a U.S. Marines barracks and other attacks. The strike also resulted in nine deaths and 59 injuries, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. John Kirby from the White House noted that the U.S. had not been notified beforehand and urged Americans to avoid traveling to Lebanon. This incident follows a similar Israeli airstrike in July that killed another high-ranking Hezbollah commander, Fuad Shukr.
