Former US Senator Joe Lieberman Dies

Joe Lieberman has died at the age of 82 as a result of complications from a fall. Lieberman served as a U.S. senator and was the Democratic Party's vice presidential nominee in 2000. He was known for his centrist Democratic views and consistently hawkish foreign policy. After the narrow defeat of the Gore-Lieberman ticket, he sought the Democratic nomination in 2004 but dropped out. Joe Lieberman went on to win re-election as a third-party candidate after losing his Senate primary. Lieberman was the first Jewish vice-presidential nominee on the ticket of a major American political party.
