Hurricane Helene Prompts Federal and State Aid

Former President Donald Trump visited Valdosta, Georgia, to assess and address the damage caused by Hurricane Helene, meeting first responders and business owners impacted by the storm. The hurricane has resulted in at least 132 deaths and widespread destruction across multiple states, leaving millions without power and critical resources in short supply. In response, President Biden has deployed over 3,600 federal personnel and approved multiple emergency declarations to aid recovery efforts. Vice President Kamala Harris has promised to visit the affected areas when it is safe to do so without disrupting emergency operations. Additionally, several states, including Iowa and Louisiana, have sent rescue teams to assist in the recovery efforts in North Carolina and South Carolina. The Red Cross is also actively involved, sending volunteers to provide support and deliver supplies to the devastated regions.
