FBI Severs Ties With ADL Over Glossary
The Anti-Defamation League retired its “Glossary of Extremism and Hate,” saying many of the more than 1,000 entries were outdated or misused and reiterating its commitment to fighting antisemitism and respect for law enforcement. The glossary included a backgrounder linking Turning Point USA — founded by the late Charlie Kirk — to Christian nationalism, conspiracy theories and episodes of bigoted rhetoric, and ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said the entry on “Christian Identity” describes a virulently antisemitic, white‑supremacist ideology distinct from mainstream Christianity. The retirement prompted a conservative backlash from figures including Elon Musk, Donald Trump Jr. and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, with Musk calling the ADL a “hate group” on X. In response, FBI Director Kash Patel defended recent bureau actions — including an indictment of former FBI director James Comey — and announced the FBI would sever its partnership with the ADL, accusing the organization of political bias, “spying on Americans,” and embedding agents during Comey’s tenure. Supporters of Patel say the change restores bureau neutrality, while critics contend he is politicizing the FBI, underscoring deep partisan divisions over law enforcement’s ties to civil-society watchdogs.
