Chinese President Xi Jinping announced a $50 billion financing package for Africa over the next three years during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing, which gathered over 50 African leaders. Xi pledged to create one million jobs, provide emergency food aid, and promote Chinese investments in Africa. The summit highlighted China's shift from large infrastructure projects to 'small and beautiful' initiatives, reflecting a strategic pivot amid tensions with the West. Agreements were signed with Chad and Senegal covering energy, infrastructure, and military support, among other areas. Xi emphasized that China-Africa relations are at their historical best and positioned China as a champion of the developing world against Western dominance. Meanwhile, South Africa and China have elevated their bilateral relationship to a strategic cooperative partnership, emphasizing trade, infrastructure, and technological collaboration.
