Microsoft Reports Russian Disinformation Targeting Harris

A new report by Microsoft's Threat Analysis Center reveals that Russian disinformation campaigns are targeting Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign ahead of the November election. Russian troll farms, particularly the Kremlin-aligned group Storm-1516, have disseminated fake videos, including one falsely accusing Harris of a 2011 hit-and-run incident and another depicting Harris supporters attacking a Trump rally attendee. These videos, often spread via social media and fabricated websites, have garnered millions of views. The report also notes that other nations, such as Iran and China, are attempting to influence U.S. voters. Meta has responded by banning Russian state media organizations from its platforms. Analysts warn that more disinformation efforts are likely as the election approaches.
