New Docs: FBI Scrutinized 160+ GOP Figures

Newly released documents from the GOP-led House Judiciary Committee and Sen. Chuck Grassley show the FBI’s Arctic Frost probe scrutinized roughly 160 Republican operatives—about 45 close Trump associates and 111 others—mobilizing multiple field offices, requesting roughly $16,000–$17,000 for travel and pursuing more than 40 interviews. The filings say investigators opened inquiries based on “specific and articulable facts” and obtained evidence about efforts to persuade then–Vice President Mike Pence and the submission of alternate electors. House Republicans and several GOP senators characterized the records as politicized targeting, alleged subpoenas reached phone records for numerous Republican lawmakers, and have demanded testimony from former special counsel Jack Smith. Separate GOP disclosures reiterate allegations that the FBI retaliated against whistleblower Special Agent Valentine Fertitta by prolonging a security-clearance review and attempting to interview his wife while denying her counsel.
