Ramaswamy and Musk Launch Department of Government Efficiency

Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk have launched a new initiative called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) aimed at overhauling American bureaucracy, backed by President-elect Donald Trump. Speaking at a gala at Mar-a-Lago, Ramaswamy declared their intent to 'take a chainsaw' to inefficiency, likening their efforts to those of Argentina's President Javier Milei, who famously used a chainsaw as a symbol of austerity. DOGE's goals include slashing regulations, cutting waste, and restructuring federal agencies, with a target to save significant taxpayer money, potentially cutting up to 10% of the federal workforce. Despite its ambitious aims, critics warn that previous attempts at government reform have often fallen short, and the initiative may face significant challenges in implementation. Musk aims to cut $2 trillion from the budget and eliminate cumbersome regulations, but such goals may conflict with existing governmental structures. The project, humorously named after Dogecoin, is set to conclude by July 4, 2026, coinciding with America's 250th anniversary.
