Latvia to Host International Drone Summit in 2025

Riga, Latvia, will host an international drone summit in May 2025, organized by the Latvian Ministry of Defense and Riga Technical University, aiming to address global security challenges and advancements in drone technology. The event will bring together defence ministers and industry leaders to share insights on the future of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Latvia is a key player in the international drone coalition, supplying approximately 5,000 combat drones to Ukraine and establishing a drone testing ground to enhance technological development. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military is adapting to electronic warfare by producing fibre-optic drones that can evade conventional jamming tactics. This shift in strategy comes as Ukraine faces significant challenges on the battlefield, highlighting the evolving nature of drone warfare.
