Gov. Sununu Saves Choking Contestant at Competition

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu performed the Heimlich maneuver on contestant Christian Moreno during the Hampton Beach Lobster Roll Eating Competition after noticing he was choking. Sununu, who was observing the event, quickly responded when Moreno signaled for help by tapping his chest. The governor administered four or five compressions before first responders took over, successfully dislodging the food. Remarkably, Moreno resumed the contest and managed to eat seven more lobster rolls, bringing his total to nine, despite initially aiming for twenty. Sununu, who is not seeking re-election, expressed relief that he remembered his high school health class training. Moreno, unaware initially that it was the governor who saved him, plans to return to the competition next year.
