PAP Wins 87 of 97 Seats in 2025 Election
Singapore's ruling People's Action Party (PAP) has won 87 out of 97 seats in the 2025 general election, cementing its decades-long rule. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong was affirmed as leader, with the PAP achieving majorities in key constituencies such as Nee Soon GRC, Sembawang GRC, Tampines GRC, Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC, and Jurong Central SMC. The Workers’ Party retained its strongholds, winning Aljunied GRC with 59.68% and Hougang SMC with 62.17%. Opposition parties including Red Dot United, Singapore Democratic Party, and National Solidarity Party were largely defeated, with multi-cornered contests causing some to forfeit deposits. Main election issues included rising living costs, housing shortages, and economic uncertainty. The results reflect voter preference for PAP's stability during uncertain times, while the opposition remains influential in select areas.
