Minnesota Lawmaker Assassin Denies Trump, Abortion Motives

Vance Boelter, accused of killing Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband and shooting State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, has publicly denied that his actions were motivated by President Donald Trump or abortion issues. Speaking from Sherburne County Jail, Boelter emphasized that although he is personally pro-life, these were not the reasons behind the attacks, and he hinted at a more complex motive spanning two years prior to the shootings. He referenced a handwritten letter found at the crime scene addressed to FBI Director Kash Patel, claiming that important details were withheld from the public and alleging he was trained by the U.S. military and asked by Governor Tim Walz to commit the murders to facilitate a political reshuffle involving Senator Amy Klobuchar. Boelter's remarks came through written messages and video chats, his first public comments outside the courtroom, while also complaining about jail conditions. The shootings sparked a manhunt and have been labeled politically motivated by authorities, but Boelter insists the true motive is yet to be fully revealed. Governor Walz and Senator Klobuchar have not directly responded to the accusations contained in Boelter's letter.
