Tesla Debuts V4 Superchargers in Europe, California
Tesla has begun deploying its V4 Supercharger network, debuting sites in Europe and California with cabinets able to deliver up to 500 kW for passenger cars and reportedly up to 1.2 MW for the Semi, and featuring longer cables and added CCS compatibility to accommodate non‑Tesla EVs. The V4 design increases power density and enables faster deployments, reinforcing Tesla’s charging infrastructure advantage as more automakers adopt NACS and cross‑company interoperability grows. Competitive pressures are intensifying — legacy automakers warn of low‑cost Chinese rivals — even as Tesla reports strong demand in China with the Model Y L selling out initial allocations. Investors have rewarded the narrative: Tesla stock jumped more than 30% in September and has nearly doubled since April, and upcoming third‑quarter delivery figures will be watched to see if the rally is sustainable. Tesla is also preparing a lower‑priced, autonomy‑focused vehicle that could broaden its market while rivals and new entrants pursue charging and policy strategies that may reshape competition.
