EU Nears 55% 2030 Emissions Cut Target Despite Investment Gaps

The European Union is making significant progress toward its 2030 climate goals, aiming for a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1990 levels, with recent assessments showing the bloc on track to achieve around a 54% cut if current and planned measures are implemented. Key policy initiatives like the Clean Industrial Deal and Affordable Energy Action Plan support decarbonization and industrial competitiveness, while member states have aligned their renewable energy targets closely with the EU's binding goal of 42.5%.
