Bondi Orders DOJ Agents to ICE Facilities Nationwide
Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered Department of Justice agents to deploy to Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities nationwide to safeguard federal personnel and property and to arrest anyone suspected of federal crimes, announcing the directive on X. She directed the FBI, DEA, ATF and U.S. Marshals to accelerate deployments and instructed Joint Terrorism Task Forces to investigate and disrupt what she described as domestic terrorism, citing a memorandum from President Trump. The move follows a string of protests, threats and violent incidents at ICE sites — most notably a Sept. 24 Dallas shooting that killed one detainee and wounded two others — and clashes at facilities in Portland, Broadview (Ill.), Alvarado and McAllen. Bondi said the DOJ will pursue the most serious available charges, including conspiracy, assault, civil disorder and terrorism offenses, and will coordinate with Homeland Security to locate, apprehend, detain, prosecute and remove unauthorized immigrants allegedly involved. Officials have not specified which agencies or how many agents will be sent to particular facilities, and the announcement represents the administration’s most forceful federal response yet to escalating confrontations at immigration facilities.
