FedEx Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Engine Fire
A FedEx Boeing 767 cargo plane made an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport after a bird strike caused one of its engines to catch fire. The incident occurred shortly after takeoff on March 1, with the flight originally headed for Indianapolis. The plane safely returned to Newark around 8 a.m., with no injuries reported. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the incident. According to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, bird strikes are a growing concern, with over 19,000 reported in 2023. FedEx praised the pilots and first responders for their quick actions during the emergency.
