Trump Plan Seeks Hostages Returned Within 72 Hours
President Donald Trump unveiled a 20‑point plan the White House says would disarm and deradicalize Gaza, suspend fighting, deliver full humanitarian aid and establish a temporary postwar governing board to oversee reconstruction. The framework says the war would end immediately if both sides accept and that all hostages would be returned within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting the plan, followed by Israel releasing hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and large‑scale aid and rehabilitation. The proposal envisions a temporary governing board reportedly to initially include Trump and Tony Blair to administer Gaza rather than Hamas or an unreformed Palestinian Authority. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu endorsed the plan as “realistic,” urged a swift return of hostages and warned that “if Hamas rejects the plan, Israel will finish the job itself,” with opposition figures Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid also expressing support. Hamas says it has not accepted and senior officials say they have not received the U.S. ceasefire proposal, and senior envoys including Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff were involved in negotiations. The White House billed the announcement as historic even as questions remain about enforcement, consent and governance on the ground.
