Roger Wicker Reelected Amid Mississippi GOP Dominance

Republican Senator Roger Wicker has been re-elected to the U.S. Senate, defeating Democratic challenger Ty Pinkins in Mississippi. Wicker, who has served on Capitol Hill for 30 years, was endorsed by former President Donald Trump and is known for his role as the ranking member of the Armed Services Committee, advocating for increased military shipbuilding. Pinkins, an attorney who previously ran for Mississippi Secretary of State, campaigned on issues such as poverty reduction and healthcare access and expressed disagreement with Wicker on abortion rights. Despite Pinkins' efforts, his campaign struggled with limited financial backing in the predominantly Republican state. In other Mississippi elections, several U.S. House races remain uncalled, including those involving incumbents Mike Ezell, Bennie Thompson, and Trent Kelly. Donald Trump was also declared the presidential-elect for Mississippi.
