At the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Iran's Vice President Mohammad Eslami emphasized that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) cannot be enforced solely on Iran without reciprocal actions regarding sanctions relief. He criticized the ongoing political and psychological pressures aimed at compelling Iran to fulfill its obligations under the JCPOA while sanctions remain in place. Eslami highlighted Iran's extensive cooperation with the IAEA, noting that despite Iran's nuclear facilities comprising only 3% of the global total, over one-fifth of the IAEA's inspections in 2023 were conducted in Iran. He also pointed out the detrimental effects of the US withdrawal from the agreement and the failure of European nations to meet their commitments. Furthermore, Eslami condemned acts of sabotage against Iran, particularly by Israel, which he accused of waging a propaganda campaign against Iran's nuclear program. He reaffirmed Iran's commitment to increasing its nuclear energy capacity and stressed the need for equitable treatment under international nuclear regulations.
