Russia Launches Largest Airstrike on Ukraine Government Building, Kills Several
Russia launched its largest air assault on Ukraine since the war began, firing over 800 drones and a dozen missiles, including a direct hit on the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kyiv, marking the first time this government complex was targeted. Ukrainian defenses intercepted the majority of the attack, but several drones and missiles broke through, causing casualties and structural damage; at least two civilians, including a child, were killed and dozens injured. Ukrainian officials condemned the attack as a terrorist act, emphasizing the need for more air defense systems and stronger sanctions against Russian oil and gas to cut funding to Moscow’s military machine. President Donald Trump has urged European leaders to stop importing Russian oil, criticizing their partial measures as enabling the Kremlin’s war effort. Despite Russia denying targeting civilians and claiming it struck military and transport infrastructure, the damage and loss of life have intensified calls for increased international support and weapons for Ukraine. The attacks have heightened frustration among Kyiv residents and underscored the ongoing brutal nature of the conflict.
