UK Far-Right Figure Tommy Robinson Arrested Over London Train Station Assault
Tommy Robinson, a far-right British activist and founder of the English Defence League, was arrested at Luton Airport on suspicion of grievous bodily harm related to an alleged assault at St Pancras railway station in London on July 28. After the incident, Robinson left the country for Tenerife but was apprehended upon his return from a flight originating in Faro, Portugal. Video footage circulated on social media shows Robinson near a man lying motionless on the floor, with Robinson claiming he acted in self-defense. The victim sustained serious injuries but was discharged from the hospital. Robinson has a history of criminal convictions for offenses including assault, contempt of court, and public disorder, having recently served an 18-month sentence for contempt of court related to false claims about a Syrian refugee. Police continue to question Robinson in custody regarding the assault incident.
