Lego Launches Vietnam's First Emission-Free Factory

Lego has inaugurated a $1 billion factory in Vietnam, aiming to produce toys without adding greenhouse gases by relying entirely on clean energy by 2026. This facility, located in Binh Duong near Ho Chi Minh City, is the first of its kind in Vietnam and is part of Lego's broader strategy to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with an interim goal of reducing emissions by 37% by 2032. The factory will utilize advanced technology and 12,400 solar panels to produce Lego bricks with precise automation, ultimately employing thousands of skilled workers. Vietnam, striving for net-zero emissions by 2050, views this factory as a model for sustainable manufacturing. Despite global supply chain challenges, including tariffs, Lego's CEO Niels Christiansen expressed confidence that production would remain unaffected. The initiative is anticipated to set a precedent for sustainable practices in Vietnam's industrial sector, which constitutes a significant portion of the country's GDP.
