PGA Tour, Saudi PIF Discuss Golf Unification at White House

Tiger Woods, alongside PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and player director Adam Scott, participated in a second White House meeting aimed at reconciling the ongoing division in professional golf caused by the Saudi-funded LIV Golf. The meeting included Yasir Al-Rumayyan, governor of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, highlighting a significant step towards a potential deal to reunify men's professional golf. Monahan emphasized that the goal is to create a single tour featuring all top players, addressing fan desires for unity in the sport. Despite previous framework agreements and ongoing antitrust concerns from the Department of Justice, both Woods and Monahan expressed optimism about quickly healing the rift in the sport. The involvement of President Trump in these negotiations signifies the increasing importance of political influence in resolving the division. While a potential deal could provide substantial financial support and facilitate the merging of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, it still requires approval from the PGA Tour's policy board.
