Nevada AG Ford to Run for Governor in 2026

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford has announced his intention to run for governor in the 2026 election, potentially challenging incumbent Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo. Ford, currently serving his second term as attorney general, will be termed out in January 2027. He was first elected as attorney general in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, where he received more votes than any other statewide candidate. Before serving as attorney general, Ford was a state senator and the majority leader. Ford has begun informal discussions statewide to understand Nevadans' needs and expectations for their next governor. Governor Lombardo, elected in 2022, has announced his intent to seek re-election.
